On the 27th April 2026 we were proud to welcome the Honourable John-Paul Langbroek, Minister for Education and the Arts, to Birkdale South State School along with Russell Field MP and Amanda Stoker MP.
It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the impact of the Qld Government's Behaviour Boost Funding and the work our staff and students have been leading over the 18 months to strengthen student wellbeing and build a positive school culture. Our Student School Leaders were impressive as they hosted the special guests and spoke with pride about their school.
Through initiatives such as our Care Hub, Student Care Coach, daily Pulse Check-Ins, Flexi-Space and our Prep–Year 6 Care Class Program, we are explicitly teaching our students the skills they need to build strong relationships and navigate conflict in healthy, respectful ways. Our Year 6 Bridgebuilders also demonstrated their leadership in action, by working with the Year 2 students through a Care Class Lesson on 'Making An Agreement.'
We are incredibly proud to share that this work is making a real difference with a reduction in behaviour incidents clear and an increased A-C outcomes for Student Learning.
Thank you to Minister John-Paul Langbroek for your support and commitment to student wellbeing in Queensland schools. We are proud of the culture of CARE we are building together—where every child belongs, grows and achieves.
