Day for Daniel
Our Birkdale South community came together for a special Day for Daniel assembly to honour the life of Daniel Morcombe and share important messages about staying safe.
Students explored
Recognise, React and Report—recognising when something does not look, feel or sound right, reacting to keep themselves safe, and reporting concerns to a trusted adult.
Following the assembly, our Year 6 students, joined by Russell Field MP, Councillor Tracy Hughes, Senior Constable Dan and Senior Constable Rhys from Capalaba Police Station, led our school walk in Daniel’s honour. Each class carried a red balloon as a symbol of remembrance and our shared commitment to children’s safety.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by helping children identify trusted adults and reminding them to keep telling until they receive the help they need.
Thank you from our teachers
Our Birkdale South teachers would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our school community for celebrating World Teachers’ Day with such kindness and appreciation.
Your thoughtful cards, messages and words of thanks made our teachers feel valued and recognised. Knowing their work makes a difference to our children and families means so much.
A special thank you to Russell Field MP for dropping in a beautiful World Teachers’ Day cake for morning tea, and to Camp Australia for their gifts.
Teaching is a shared journey, and we are grateful for the trust, encouragement and partnership of our families. Thank you for helping make Birkdale South a place where we all
Belong, Grow, Achieve.
