Before purchasing a laptop to use at school, look through the school's minimum specification requirements to ensure you purchase an appropriate laptop. These specifications relate to the suitability of the laptop in enabling class activities, meeting student needs and promoting safe and secure access to the department's network. We have vendors who list only compatible laptops at the bottom of the page. Whilst we do encourage parents and carers to consider purchasing from these portals, please keep in mind that the school takes no responsibility for private laptop purchases and/or finance arrangements.
Things to consider when purchasing a laptop:
- Laptop build quality - Does the laptop feel sturdy? - Laptops need to be sturdy and robust in a school environment. Sometimes the slimmest laptop on the market is not the best option for students. The Laptops offered by our portals provide adequate laptop build quality.
- Laptop warranty - Does the laptop come with a good warranty? (Most laptops purchased from retail stores only offer a 12 month warranty and you are required to send the laptop back for any warranty requests) We recommend looking for a laptop with a greater warranty period/option. The vendors we have listed down below offer greater warranty options along with optional "Accidental damage protection"
- Laptop battery life - Does the laptop have a good battery life (6+ hours is recommended)
