The Intervention Program at Birkdale South State School has been designed around an inclusive philosophy and practice in accordance with Education Queensland Inclusion Policy for all of our students verified with a disability.
Inclusive education in Education Queensland:
Fosters a learning community that questions disadvantage and challenges social injustice
Maximises the educational and social outcomes of all students through the identification and reduction of barriers to learning, especially for those who are vulnerable to marginalisation and exclusion
Ensures all students understand and value diversity so that they have the knowledge and skills for positive participation in a just, equitable and democratic global society.
Children eligible for support under the Education Adjustment Program (EAP) must have been diagnosed/ verified under one or more of the following categories:
Intellectually Impairment (II)
Speech Language Impairment (SLI)
Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Physical Impairment (PI)
Hearing Impairment (HI)
Visually Impairment (VI)
Our students have access to the following Education Queensland Specialist Support Services where eligible:
Physiotherapist
Speech Language Pathologist
Advisory Visiting Teachers (AVT) – Hearing Impairment, Physical Impairment and Vision Impairment
