Network Access
Students are given computer network access
and internet access through a personal Login and Password. Education Queensland
has a managed internet service agreement with filtering which prevents users
from accessing inappropriate websites. A web-based Control Centre application
administers the system. The MIS Filtering office maintains a Global Filters
List that applies to all computers on the school network. Each school can then
maintain its own filter lists in addition to the Global Filters List. The Internet Access Agreement emphasis the
need for responsible use of the internet and is an additional strategy for the
management of use of the internet by students.
Student Acceptable Use Policy – To be completed for Prep to 6 Students
Students are
expected to comply with the code of school behaviour during all computer interactions.
In addition, students must read and comply with classroom rules for computer
use.
Internet and
Intranet use
Communications
on the network are public and all interactions must reflect Birkdale South
State School standards. Emails sent and received and Internet sites visited
must relate to classroom programs. Students and parents must be aware that,
although Birkdale South makes every effort to ensure that students access only
educational sites, users may be exposed to inappropriate information. Students
who inadvertently open such sites must immediately close it and notify their
teacher so that it may be screened in future. Students and guardians are
required to sign this agreement each year prior to using networked computers.
